State Executive Director, SC Farm Service Agency
Laurie Slade Funderburk was appointed by the Biden Administration as the State Executive Director of the USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) in South Carolina in October 2021. Funderburk was raised on her family’s cattle and tree farm in rural South Carolina, where her family practices land management with the assistance of USDA conservation programs. She has over 20 years of legal, business, and insurance experience. She served in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2004 to 2020. Funderburk has been an active volunteer with local and statewide organizations that work to improve community health and access to nutrition.A Fellow of the Liberty Fellowship Class of 2008, Funderburk is also a graduate of the 2023 Midlands class of the Riley Institute’s Diversity Leaders Initiative. Funderburk believes that within agriculture, South Carolina can find many solutions and opportunities that can positively impact many economic sectors and communities. Funderburk is a graduate of the University of South Carolina (USC) Honors College and the USC School of Law. She resides in Camden, South Carolina, with her husband Bill, a retired South Carolina Administrative Law Judge, and their two sons. In her spare time, Funderburk enjoys listening to podcasts, maintaining an active lifestyle, and spending time with her family
